Venus Williams expects to be back for U.S. Open

Venus Williams indicates she is planning to play the U.S. Open after withdrawing from lead-up events in Cincinnati and Montreal with a knee injury.

"...I was not feeling 100 percent and I am very sad I wasn’t able to go back to Cincinnati and make my first appearance in Montreal," she wrote on her official website. "But I am getting geared up to play in New York in just a couple of weeks.

"I have been training very hard in the gym and getting back on the court."

Venus said she had spent the last few weeks in Los Angeles, "mainly focusing to get my schoolwork done for my interior design classes."
